Corolla to VA Beach

Visiting the OBX for the first time next month and I%26#39;m curious about the drive north from Corolla. We%26#39;ll be renting a 4x4 SUV and I was hoping to be able to navigate along the beach all the way to VA Beach, or possibly as far North as possible and then ferry across the sound to the mainland. Is such a route possible or am I stuck with backtracking South to Kitty Hawk and crossing the bridge and going up 158?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Indy!!!! I%26#39;m sorry but such route doesn%26#39;t exist. Your gonna have to take 158 through the beach or 158 to Rt.12 if going to Corolla.

Indy, there%26#39;s a lot of interesting things on the mainland...lots of nature, farms, history. While you can shoot up to Va., you might like to take another route to get to the Va. coast. You can look into taking the ferry from Currituck (which is on the mainland) to Knott%26#39;s Island as you go north. Then work your way to Va. mainland from there. There are vineyards, woodcarvers, festivals, Mackay Island Wildlife Refuge, etc. on Knott%26#39;s Island. Could be interesting for you.
