charlotte speedweek

My wife and I want to go to Charlotte for Coca Cola 600 in May 27th. They have a street festival that we hear about. What are the streets that they have this? What hotels are walking distance to this? Is the festival worth checking out or should we stay at hotel out of town and taxi to the festival. Is there parking at these hotels?/ Please help. Thank you

The festival is uptown ( Trade and Tryon Sts). There are numerous hotels uptown - Marriott, Doubletree, Hilton, Omni, etc..... You will have to pay for parking if you stay there. Lots of good restaurants, though. It%26#39;s about half an hour drive from town to the track. A taxi would be enormously expensive- IF you could find one to take you. There are many parking decks uptown. It%26#39;s a crowded festival - but everything race-related is - so you%26#39;d have to be patient with people and traffic. I don%26#39;t go to it, but thousands enjoy it. Best wishes.

Oh- here%26#39;s a website for more info - www.600festival.com

Hey bud do you have a e-mail address so I can bother you with more questions if thats ok. Thanks for your help. We are also looking for real estate to.

If you go to my profile page there should be a button there you can use to contact me.

We just booked tickets for the race in October 2007. Is Speed Week only for Coca Cola 600 or do they repeat the festivities again in the fall?

The speedstreet festival only happens in May.

speed street is may 24-26 this year and IMO is worth going to....i worked at the festival last year as a bartender and had a blast...food and alcohol (mostly margaritas and mai tai%26#39;s..you can get them at any tiki booth) is kinda expensive (12 dollars for one drink) but very good and unusual (things like fried milky way%26#39;s, gator tail and ';cheesecake on a stick';...good stuff and i have never seen it anywhere else around here) and there are a lot of good performers on three huge stages throughout the weekend....they havent announced who will be there this year (that i know of)....but if you are in town...you should definately go

I have been watching the 600festival.com website for entertainment details, but they don%26#39;t list times. Any idea on if/when times will be posted for the acts? We would love to see Puddle of Mudd, but don%26#39;t want to spend all day Saturday waiting for them.
