Is anyone planning a trip to Oak Island?

We are going May 30 to June 6. Would love to hear of others plans for Oak Island vacations and wake this forum up!

Is anyone planning a trip to Oak Island?

My family and I went to Oak Island last summer. We wanted a place that wasn%26#39;t commercialized. Its a great place to relax. There is one putt-putt and it gets packed. We went to Southport and took a ghost walk around the town and our guide told us ghost stories at different stops. We also went to Fort Fisher on the ferry and went to the NC Aquarium. We had a couple great dinners down there as well. I hope you enjoy your trip. We are planning to go north and try Topsail Island.

Is anyone planning a trip to Oak Island?

We have gone to Oak Island several times over the years. When we are looking for a place to just camp on the beach and get away from it all, it%26#39;s the best! We buy some fresh seafood from Haag and Son%26#39;s and eat in most nights. It%26#39;s a great place to relax and kick back. I have also found the rental prices to be lower than some other beaches. They have crept up over the years, but you can still find an inexpensive place to stay.

Love Oak Island and go there about every year. Hopefully we will be going back this summer, but my kids are getting older and taking on summer jobs so idk. We live in SC and everyone laughs at us for going up to NC to the beach, but Oak Island is my style so much more so than Myrtle Beach!

We have gone to Oak Island the past 4 years and are going again this summer. Love it!!! You can just relax on the island or break it up with some little side trips. Lunch and browsing the little shops of South Port, shopping at the unique shops of Wilmington%26#39;s Cotton Exchange and other quaint shops in that area is not to be missed, take the Port Fisher ferry to aquarium, we take a day to take the now teenagers to Myrtle Beach for the hub bub (about an hour away), my husband has taken the kids on a 1/2 day fishing charter they really enjoyed, and rented a kayak for a day which was hillarious! We always rent a house from Margaret Rudd Realty, no problems at all, they are really nice. Food Lion on the island but we only use that for spare of the moment items. We do one big grocery shopping trip when we get there at the Walmart not far from the bridge to the island. Does this help?

We have been to Oak Island several times over the years. When you are looking for some place to just crash on the beach and relax, it%26#39;s the best place we%26#39;ve found! We buy fresh seafood most nights and cook our own instead of going out to eat. Looking forward to our trip coming up in just 4 1/2 weeks!
