South by Southwest?

A couple years ago we stayed at the Brookstown Inn and ate at a restaurant around the corner- South by Southwest which was delicious! Last night, we were on our way home from the mountains to Durham, and decided to stop there for dinner, but it is no longer there! There was another restaurant there which I was not able to catch the name of (plus they were closed, so we didn%26#39;t really slow down). Two questions- did South by Southwest close or are the possibly located somewhere else now? And what is the name of this new restaurant, and is it any good?

A side note- we ended up going to the Fourth Street Filling Company which was just as delicious as the last time we went!

South by Southwest?

Hi KK,

Yes, unfortunately South by Southwest is no longer open, and it has not simply relocated. Shame, because the food was excellent. I have heard that an upscale authentic Mexican restaurant is taking over the space, but I haven%26#39;t heard that they%26#39;re open yet nor do I remember the name. I%26#39;ll try to find out from some of the locals and update this thread if I find out anything.

Oh, and 4th St. Filling Station is an excellent alternative!

South by Southwest?

I will ditto the Fourth Street Filling Station. It is one of my favorite places. I also like Twin City and Village Tavern for local places.

Hi -

I was sad to see South-by-Southwest close as it was one of my favorites as well!

The owners of Las Estrellas Mexican resturant on Silas Creek Pkwy are opening the upscale Mexican restaurant in it%26#39;s place.

I don%26#39;t recall the name, however the last I heard, the resturant is to open in May/June 2009.
