Hi Charlotte Forumers!
In the spirit of sharing with locals and visitors alike, I thought I鈥檇 let you know what I did last night. ;) I went to Foskoskies on Shamrock Dr. 鈥?last night was the second (I believe) in a series of monthly dinners they鈥檝e been hosting, all based on a culinary theme. Last night鈥檚 was Greek food. $20 per person bought us four generous courses, and they also offered wines selected especially for the occasion. It was held next door to their main restaurant, is a space which they reserve for private parties. Seating was shared, so you get to know your neighbors (who really were our neighbors, lol). It鈥檚 informal and festive, and did I mention the food was fabulous?! Here鈥檚 what we had:
Appetizers (all served family style): stuffed grape leaves, spanikopita, and this really yummy almond and white bean dip that I can鈥檛 remember the name of
Soup: greek lemon soup (YUM!)
Main course: lamb marinated in orange and other yummy herbs, plus veggies, eggplant chutney, and tzatziki (they also made chicken for those who didn鈥檛 like lamb)
Dessert: you had your choice of baklava, lemon cake, or date walnut pie
It started at 7pm, and everyone was served at once. This place is a new favorite of mine, having just discovered it a few months ago. These folks are friendly and they make some good grub!!! Of course they have their regular menu, and weekend specials that are fun and range from down-home cookin鈥?to tasty eclectic fare.
As far as the monthly dinners go, I think they鈥檙e on Tuesdays. May鈥檚 theme is Portuguese, and June鈥檚 is Swedish. Stop on by and get on their mailing list. I guarantee you鈥檒l love it!
