Hemby Bridge Opry - Bluegrass at Its Best

Home folk and visitors - I dropped by tell you about a new bluegrass venue in Hemby Bridge - just outside of Charlotte ( it%26#39;s really in Union County between Charlotte and Monroe).

The old and revered Mineral Springs Music Barn is now closed and that left a bluegrass void in the area. So, the Hemby Bridge Opry has opened in a nice, roomy, and clean garage.I found out about it by email.

We went tonight and heard Deeper Shade of Blue and they were fantastic. Admission is $8.00 and they have some good bands lined up each Saturday night at 7:00.

The venue is right off Sardis Church Rd ( which is just off Highway 74). You pass the church and the first road on the left is Scott Long Rd. Turn on to that and the first driveway to the right will take you back behind a house to the big white garage where the concerts are held.

There%26#39;s a good size dance floor for flat-footing and clogging. They people are friendly and the sound system is good. Chairs are in a semi circle.

They have hot dogs, popcorn, drinks and candy at low prices.

I hope to get more contact info soon and I%26#39;ll update this posting for future reference. For bluegrass fans, this is one of the best venues in the area ( sad that a city as big as Charlotte does not have a good, authentic bluegrass show weekly).

Best wishes!

There are 2 weekly bluegrass places in this area, this one you mentioned, Hemby Bridge Opry, and another one, Mineral Springs Music Barn, just reopened. Here%26#39;s the info:

Every Friday Night at the Mineral Springs Music Barn, see schedule at www.MineralSpringsMusicBarn.com

and

Every Saturday Night at the Hemby Bridge Opry, I don%26#39;t believe they have a website.

I don%26#39;t know much about the one in Hemby Bridge except what you mentioned, but the one in Mineral Springs has new ownership, it%26#39;s been cleaned up and is a very family friendly environment with great bands. Check them out at www.MineralSpringsMusicBarn.com

Just 20 minutes from Charlote.

Thanks.

Glad to hear Mineral Springs is back open. Too bad the shows are on Friday. Those of us would have to come from the west can%26#39;t get there due to the I-485 traffic on Friday evenings ( and being exhausted after a week of work! LOL). If it ever changes back to Saturday, we%26#39;ll be there! Best wishes.

Thanks bud and bluegrasslover! I didn%26#39;t know about either of these venues. :)
