Help on finding the shallow beach close to Currituck lightho

hello!

We were in NC a couple of years ago and found a beach that was perfect for young kids. All I remember is that it was a little north of the Currituck Lighthouse and before the 4X4 beaches. We parked the car on a sandy street and the ocean there was much calmer, the water went a long way before getting deep making it a little more enjoyable for little kids. It was not to crowded and we had our best day. We are looking to rent another house in NC this summer and I cant find a map to pinn down the proper location. Can someone help?

Perhaps you were in the Ocean Hill section of Corolla. Several rental companies work with homes in that area. Twiddy is one of them.

I must point out though that what was once a long shallow area a few years ago, may quite possibly not be that way anymore. The Outer Banks shoreline is constantly changing.

Thank you! With the ocean is always best to not take anything for granted... When we went we stayed at Duck, but the waters there went deep very fast and it was full of currents... Not suited for a 2 year old at the time...

I will check it out!

You may also want to check out the Whalehead section of Corolla as well. The beaches there are really wide. In some areas, shallow tidal pools form and these are perfect for little kids. Other agencies to consider in that area would be Brindley Beach, Corolla Classics, Outer Banks Blue, and Sun. Good luck on your search.

Any beach from mid-Ocean Sands and north fit the bill. So Whalehead would be perfect as would Ocean Hills.

That%26#39;s why we love in Corolla so much. Perfect place for little kids. That%26#39;s not say it can%26#39;t get rough if there%26#39;s enough wind and the surf comes in strong, but more days than not, the surf is gentle there.

are any of these near corolla light?

Yes, Corolla Light is right in that band of the beach where it%26#39;s friendlier (for the most part), than much of the rest of the beaches.

For the last 19? years (wow do I feel old) our family has rented a beach every summer somewhere between the 4x4 area and Pine Island. As a previous poster pointed out the sands are constantly shifting. A beach that seems really wide gently sloping one year can be a narrower more steeply sloping beach the next year. However, it usually isnt a long walk from from one of these areas to another.

Also the phase of the moon seems somehow related to the details of beach quality.
