Trip Report/Hatteras Cabanas

Back from a wonderful week in Hatteras with lots of sunshine. Couldn%26#39;t get weekly rental on short notice with ocean view at either Lighthouse or Cape Hatteras Motel so went with Cabanas and turned out to be a great fit for me and look forward to returning. I stayed in #10 and liked the quiet, privacy, felt secure with easy access to beach and great view of ocean from top deck. Seemed to be mainly middleaged and older people and fine for one person. The price was right - $501 inclusive for week and found Dolphin Realty fine to deal with. They have a printed booklet that gives a better sense of interiors of different ones, many pet-friendly.

I had a look at Lighthouse and Motel views from balconies and couldn%26#39;t beat cabana view and found Buxton area a little ';busy';. I realize this appeals to many. The Seagull Motel next to Cabanas looked well-maintained with easy access to beach but view of ocean blocked by dunes. Found Connors best grocery story, liked Thaias across road for chili etc, bakery at Hatteras Landing and Oden%26#39;s for a couple of appetizers and great view. Viewed Nags Head area etc on way home and again found it very built up and preferred the small town feel of Hatteras and found others in Cabanas friendly. T

hanks to all who have posted replies to my queries in last couple of years. It is a long drive from Ottawa so if I am fortunate enough to return will plan to stay longer.

Trip Report/Hatteras Cabanas

I had never been to NC and apart from coast enjoyed drive thro NC and VA countryside. Next week heading to Asheville area and looking forward to experiencing the mountain side of NC that I understand has its own beauty. Have encountered much friendliness and helpfulness in any encounters either in person or via phone so far with the people who live in NC so looking forward to this coming trip.
