Nearby accommodations?

I have to attend a wedding on Bald Head Island in early October 2009. My plan was to be there just for the weekend which seems impossible given the lack of places to stay.

Any recommendations on nearby hotels? The plan is to be on the island for a rehearsal dinner on Friday night and wedding on Saturday.

I guess I will spend a lot of time on the ferry.

Southport is the closet by ferry I guess.

But....I would imagine in October you will be able to find something on the Island.

The bride and groom have provided information about rentals of houses. This is a bit out of my price range and more diffciult to lock down with such a short stay (potentially just an overnight).

Any recommendations on Soutport hotels/motels/B%26amp;Bs would be helpful in the $100-200 price range.

Southport has 3 nice chain motels: Hampton Inn (910-454-0016); Comfort Inn/Suites(910-454-7444) and the newest--Wingate Inn, I don%26#39;t have a number for, but you should be able to find info online. The Wingate is the shortest drive to the BHI ferry, but the other two aren%26#39;t that far away.
