I am taking my mother to the Biltmore and can%26#39;t decide which place to stay. I like the idea of the transportation and convenience offered by the Inn, but I like the spaciousness of the Residences. Any suggestions?
Inn on Biltmore Estate or the Residences at Biltmore?Only you can decide what works the best for you. I stayed in both. Waking up at the Inn to spectacular views (that%26#39;s if your room doesn%26#39;t face a parking lot) of the mountains and taking a walk on a trail early in the morning was unforgettable. We had a luxury room but it was very small, in my opinion. The Residence Inn is located a few minutes from the gate to the Biltmore. It is non-smoking (like all Marriott%26#39;s properties), definitely more spacious, breakfast is included, every room has a full kitchen which includes a stove top and a full refrigerator. I found a mattress to be very uncomfortable but that was about 4 years ago so it is possible there are new mattresses by now. Well, it looks like you need to decide since none of these two places can offer both, the transportation and convenience in addition to the spaciousness.
Inn on Biltmore Estate or the Residences at Biltmore? Thanks, Places. I was actually referring to the Residences at the Biltmore, not Residence Inn (by Marriott). I appreciate your opinion on the Inn at Biltmore ... hopefully if we choose that one we won%26#39;t get a view of the parking lot.
I see now! We didn%26#39;t stay there but a friend stay at the Residences at Biltmore one night and enjoyed a place. She had a studio but didn%26#39;t spend much time in it since she spent a day visiting the Biltmore. Sorry I don%26#39;t have any more details. One nice thing about staying at the Inn you are right on the grounds and if you get tired you are able to get to your room very easily and then get back to your visit any time you want without dealing with a traffic in Asheville, lines to get back to the estate, a long driveway and prking problems. Whichever place you decide to stay in have a great visit. If you decide to stay at the Inn ask for a room facing a vineyard and NOT a parking lot.
Thank you again! You have been very helpful. I%26#39;m leaning towards the Inn, due to convenience.
Sounds like you have already made up your mind on the ';Inn';. Just thought I%26#39;d add some concrete to the decision. First let me say I have never stayed at the Residence, but after staying 1 time at a local hotel (that experience was fine, nothing bad to say about it), but would never stay any place but the Inn after experiencing their customer service. My husband and I stayed last May, and am currently planning a 50th anniversary trip with my parents this Nov. We recommend the package deals, which include estate tic, breakfasts etc... We took advantage of the opportunity at check in to request the West side of the Inn, best mountain views. (This did cost $50 extra, but was worth it!)If you purchase anything on the Estate you can have it delivered to your room at the Inn, no carrying it around with you. You must spend some time on the Veranda with a cool drink. Such a pleasure. Have a great time!
Both properties are very nice, but as stated in previous posts, it comes down to your preference. If you plan to be touring the Estate the whole time or if you plan to do other ';Asheville Things';. I don%26#39;t think you could do wrong with either though. Sorry that probably was no help at all huh?
Yes, it was helpful Ireland Bound! I just booked the Inn at Biltmore and I am going to follow up with a request for a nice mountain view. Hopefully that will help. I really appreciate all the advice!
DSQuibbs,
I will ask for a west side (mountain view).
...and you said ';You must spend some time on the Veranda with a cool drink. Such a pleasure. '; Sounds like a great plan! Thanks!
I stayed at the Inn on the Biltmore Estate when it first opened. The service was outstanding and the restaurant at the Inn had the most excellent food. Definitely get a package with admission to the Biltmore Estate. There were several packages to choose from and I opted for a bed and breakfast one. Having wine from the estate on the wide veranda (porch) was so relaxing. I even took a cooking class at the bistro. There are many things that you can do right at the Inn or Estate area. I do remember, however, that the beds were high and anyone with any physical ailments might find it a bit difficult to climb into them. The Biltmore Estate does have a lot of benches in the gardens for you to rest. You can be walking for quite a while. If you neeed any special arrangements, the staff at the Inn will be more than happy to help you. Personally, the convenience of being at the inn and having the shuttle to take you to the estate is a plus. You are not far from the Biltmore village area for shopping nor are you far from downtown Asheville should you choose to go there. I understand there are several new cafes there. There use to be blue grass music in the summer. You could check with other trip advisors posters about that.
