need more time at biltmore village or downtown asheville???

We will be in Asheville for 2 full days and arriving the first day around 3pm. We plan to do Biltmore village, downtown asheville and Gorges state park.

The day we arrive at 3 should we do biltmore village or downtown asheville? which one will we need a full day for and which will be fine from 4pm-9pm?

Thanks!

Jamie

Better do downtown the first day. Doubt that much is open late in Biltmore Village. Many shops downtown will also close by 5 or 6PM, but the restaurants, clubs, and bars will be open late.

FYI - many of the Bilmtore Village shops are open until 8pm. http://www.shopbiltmorevillage.com/shop/ and this is only one grouping of them.

I think you would also find that many of downtown Asheville%26#39;s shops and galleries are open late - particularly on Friday and Saturday nites.

thanks! which of the 2 would you want more time to walk around?

Hi Jamie, I love that your trip will include Asheville as well as outdoorsy Gorges. Our family is planning to visit Gorges this summer too. It%26#39;s our newest state park, so new that there are not many facilities there yet. Here is the master plan and info.

Should we do Dupont instead? Were just looking for a beautiful setting with waterfalls and a light hike.

Thanks!

downtown Asheville - definitely! (in response to what needs more time for walking around)

thats what I figured well save a full day for that! thanks!

I love Dupont Forest! It is so beautiful with waterfalls and has easy trails.

Biltmore Village is great and I would suggest doing that when you have some time. Downtown Asheville and Biltmore Village are very close, so if you decide to do one and want to change your plans it will not take up much time to shift gears. Enjoy!

You can consider Chimney Rock, about 45 minutes east of Asheville, for some hikes and waterfalls. Also Lake Lure area is pretty.

As for your question, I would say that downtown deserves more time than Biltmore Village. It%26#39;s a vibrant city with lots to explore and plenty of fascinating art galleries. Do not miss the Grove Arcade for shopping and/or a quick meal.
