Does anyone have any recommendations for a great restaurant that has great food? I am up for fancy or casual. Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
Where to eat?
Zoe I can make some recommendations, but it would really help if you could narrow it down some:
Where on the Outer Banks? Corolla, Duck, Kitty Hawk, KDH, Nags Head, Manteo, Hatteras, Ocracoke...
Fancy or casual?
What type of food? Seafood? Steak? Sushi? Thai? Italian? Mexican?
Narrowing it down would really help b/c there are almost has many great restaurants down there has there are ';OBX'; stickers on cars.
Quick suggestions:
(Fancy) 1587, Prime Only, Colington Cafe, Meridian 42, Ocean Boulevard
(Low-key) Momma Kwan%26#39;s (the scallops or blackened tuna), Tortugas Lie, Lone Cedar Cafe, The Black Pelican, Goombay%26#39;s, Run Down Cafe, Outer Banks Brew Station
Where to eat?
Not knowing where you are makes it more difficult. If you are in the Nags Head to Kitty Hawk area I like these, they are not in any order:
Owens - one of the best restaurants here
Colington Cafe
Flying Fish
Tail of the Whale
Kelly%26#39;s
JK%26#39;s
more laid back:
Tortuga%26#39;s
Mexically Brews
Chili Peppers
Mama Quan%26#39;s
Blue Moon
Barefoot Bernies
Food Dudes MP 9 Beach Road. Awesome and low cost.
Cap%26#39;n Franks Hot Dogs. Bypass.
Kill Devil Grill MP 9 1/2 Beach Rd.
Kill Devils MP 9, Bypass. Hot Dogs and great custard.
Awful Arthurs and Jolly Rogers are 2 of my favorite in the Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills area.
I will be in the Kityt Hawk area. Thanks for all of your help.
The Colington Cafe, Mama Kwan%26#39;s and Owens%26#39; are all great.
We really enjoyed Owens. Very good. Not the best I have ever had anywhere, but at least an 8.5 on scale of 10. Really good cuts of fish.
We were disappointed in Darrel%26#39;s in Manteo, which we tried to local dining type experience. Their fish was poor to say the least. I would give them a 5 of so on scale of 10. It was edible, but not very good.
We love JK%26#39;s steaks-husband swears it was the best steak ever(at the beach-who%26#39;d have thunk it?) Owens in great for a special night out(pricey)but really good seafood. We also like Lone Cedar Cafe by the bridge. For more casual , we like Tortuga%26#39;s Lie,Goombays and The Pier. Miller%26#39;s is also consistently good, especially for breakfast, we also love The Jolly Roger for Italian and breakfast. Be prepared for long waits everywhere in season-eat at off hours, you%26#39;re often competing with families of 20 from the huge houses going out to eat all together. Oh, Kill Devil soft serve is great too.
If you are looking for a special dinner out, try the Colington Cafe on Colington Road. You will need a reservation. In Kitty Hawk, the Black Pelican is good. I have heard good things about Renditions though I haven%26#39;t been there. Jolly Roger is great for breakfast and lunch. Dinners may be not so great.
