Things to do in Raleigh?

We are going to Raleigh in July for 2 days as a stop over on our way to Wilmington, NC - just wondering what things there are to do in Raleigh? We are a 24 year old couple with no children. thanks

Things to do in Raleigh?

Check out website for Charlie Goodnights comedy club, Alltell Pavillion for outdoor concerts or RBC Center for concerts, NC State Fair Grounds for events schedule, tons of shopping and restraurants, Durham Performing Arts, Raleigh Memorial theater and much more. Some clubs you can check out under nightlife on Raleigh websites. Have a great time.

Things to do in Raleigh?

A lot depends on how much time you have, are you staying the night?, what day, what do you like to do????

Here are a couple websites that list what is happening mostly downtown. http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/, www.newraleigh.com

Also, there is great hiking at Umstead Park, the North Carolina Museum of Art, which has a great collection, sculpture walk/hike and outdoor concerts, the other state museums downtown, etc.

What types of things would you want to do?

My favorite things to do in the area are:

- Durham Bulls baseball game (about 12 miles from the airport)

- Downtown raleigh museums, NC history, natural history

- Hiking in Umstead Park

- Fun nightlife on Glenwood South, fav bars/clubs are Hibernian (irish pub), Solstice (dance club/restaurant), Havana%26#39;s (scotch/cigar bar), Blue Martini...there are lots

Raleigh probably is not as big as Melbourne but there is plenty to do around the area, I think your best bet for fun would be the glenwood south area at night.

Well certainly if you%26#39;re staying 2 days, I%26#39;d hit downtown at night (though weekends are more interesting than weekdays). Lots of restaurants, pubs, cafes, bars, nightclubs, etc etc. Also some galleries and shops. downtownraleigh.com and downtownraleigh.org are two good sites for info. Look for the new free ';R Line'; bus that circulates around downtown all day.

The IMAX theatre downtown would probably be a great movie date. They do nature/culture-type documentaries in the morning and early-afternoon...then big blockbuster films in prime time.

Of the museums in Raleigh, the state Art Museum is probably the one that appeals most to adults. The Science and History ones are good too though by all means.

The Raulston Arboretum at NCSU is good if the weather is nice...though in July I%26#39;d recommend hitting it in the morning.

If you%26#39;re also passing by our neighboring city Durham, Duke Gardens is a great idea as well.
