I am coming to Charlotte the end of the month to explore the area in terms of potential relocation for my family. While visiting the city, I am also interested in buying some Thomasville furniture. (It is so ridicuously overpriced here in NJ). Anyway, my question is to Charlotte locals for recommendations as to where I should go to get a great deal on Thomasville. Someone I know said to drive to Hickory to the Hickory Furniture Mart....I guess I am wondering if that is my best option. Any input would be greatly appreciated...
Furniture buying question...
There are also several furniture warehouses in High Point, NC. The High Point furniture market is actually this week, so there may be some very good pricing at the end of the month. These warehouses will also ship anywhere in the US and abroad.
Furniture buying question...
I agree, I would try High Point first and then Hickory. I find that High Point has much better selection and for the few items that I%26#39;ve priced at both areas, High Point prices are usually better.
Best Wishes!
F.Y.I. for jofact - there are several furniture stores in Pineville (which is a town/city next to Charlotte) including Thomasville (check their website). I have been to Hickory (didn%26#39;t really find anything...for me) and have since just purchased my furniture closer to home in Pineville.
If you want furniture go to High Point.........every brand of furniture you can think of, after all it is the furniture capital of the world.
What is your experience in buying furniture in Charlotte. Are the furniture stores concentrated in one area or spread out? Looking for contemporary furniture. Please,Suggest hotel/motels close to that area. Any input will be appreciated.
Charlotte is not really a furniture mecca. Very little furniture is made in NC these days - almost all of the furniture stores are chains that sell Asian made furniture - the same you can get anywhere. Hickory, NC ( 40 miles north of Charlotte) does have the Furniture Mart that has a lot of stores under one roof. And, south Charlotte ( actually Pineville) has a street beside Carolina Place Mall that has a large concentration of stores - La-Z-Boy, Rooms to Go, Boyles, Haverty%26#39;s, etc....I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll save any money by coming up here - but, best wishes.
Oops- forgot to mention...for contemporary - try the new IKEA store off I-85 between Charlotte and Concord.
We are the real pros on this question. Live part of the time in Tennessee and the rest in North Carolina. Have furnished 2 houses.
We used to go running around NC looking for furniture and it gets long and tiring. You cannot see it all. So, what we have done is found 3 stores that we LOVE to work with. We can look at furniture in Tenn. NC or anywhere. Write the information down and call these stores. They will price it for you, order and ship. Sometimes they offer promotions on free shipping especially Boyles. We found at Broyhill sofa for a playroom at Broyhill and Quality Furniture got it for less.
Here are 3 websites to look at:
