Driving down the OBX to Ocracoke,

HI, a few questions about driving down the OBX. We will be arriving around 11:30am (Friday in June) to make our way down to Ocracoke. We want to sight see and visit some unique places. Any suggestions to visit and eat a lunch? What areas of beach would be considered picturesqe to stop and enjoy the scenery? Any suggestions are appreciated, Seaglasshunter

Driving down the OBX to Ocracoke,

If you are arriving at 11:30 you won%26#39;t want to go far before you have lunch so somewhere in Nags Head makes sense. There are a billion places to eat. You might like to be waterfront and Millers and Sugar Creek are both waterfront places in Nags Head and both are on the south side south of the hospital at mile post 14. Sugar Creek is on the causeway that goes west to Manteo and Millers is at mile post 16.

Going to Hatteras you will pass Oregon Inlet marina and it%26#39;s fun to stop and look at the boats. You will pass Bodie lighthouse and it is worth a visit (you can%26#39;t go up it). After you cross the bridge to the island of Hatteras you pass several things that you can visit. A stop at Hatteras lighthouse and a climb to the top is a must see.

Others will have more suggestions, once you leave Nags Head it will take you about 2 hours to reach the town of Ocracoke if you did nothing but travel and ride the 40 min ferry.

Driving down the OBX to Ocracoke,

Mulligan%26#39;s just expanded their rooftop porch. You could stop there for lunch and enjoy the view.

My personal recommendation: Stop somewhere for sandwiches like Blue Moon Cafe or the Butcher%26#39;s Block...pack a picnic lunch and stop along some deserted beach along the Hattaras Nat%26#39;l seashore and have a picnic lunch on some desolate beach.
