Down to the wire beach choice.

We are heading to the NC coast in July. I have potential house rentals on Carolina Island, Ocean Isle, and Emerald Isle.

We want laid back and will be taking children (4,2) and our dog.

Looking for opinions as to which beach area is best.

I%26#39;m sure they are all beautiful and have their own attributes. I really would like a nice beach, access to wildlife, and a few local places with decent food.

A few activities would probably be good for the kids too.

I%26#39;ll cook most of our meals so a decent supermarket would be nice.

Have you ever visited the Cape Hatteras area? It offers everything you are looking for. It is very laid back, dog friendly (lots of pet friendly rentals), tons of nature, wildlife (the National seashore), quiet uncrowded beaches. There is a small amusement area in Rodanthe. It is also a short drive to the main island (Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, etc) if you want more shopping, restaurants touristy stuff but you will find plenty to do on the Cape. There are supermarkets/shopping centers depending on the area. I havent been there in a few years but I%26#39;m heading there next week.

Out of what you mentioned, I pick Ocean Isle. Stayed there - loved it. Quiet, family-oriented, beautiful, and still only about hour an hour drive if you want to go into Myrtle for some fun. It%26#39;s also very close to Calabash - the seafood capital of NC. Best wishes.
