We are considering outer banks for July 25 - Aug 1 and need help. I have stayed at Isle of Palms and loved it. We are looking for a ocean front house with a pool and want to keep it under $5000. There will be 8 of us... Any assistance or direction would be much appreciated. For example, good rental agencies, locations, etc. I have such a hard time with new locations! Thank you in advance!

Considering Outer Banks - Need Help!
I would look to Hatteras Island if you want a quiet place. If you want more activity, try Nags Head to Duck. Resorts Realty is a good one for that area.
Midgett is good for Hatteras. It is beautiful here.

Oceanfront with a pool during a peak week in summer for under $5K is going to be a bit difficult, but there are still some properties out there. I believe Twiddy has a couple, and perhaps some other agencies do as well.
What types of things do you want to be near, or NOT near? That will help determine location possibilities.
I just did a check and I find our company has nothing under $5k oceanfront w/pool from South Nags Head to Duck. We have lots with out a pool and some for more than $5k. Feel free to call and talk to someone who can help you.

I am from the St Louis area - Alton, Ill
Here are three I could find using Beach Realty, the company I%26#39;m using this year. My personal preference is the Corolla area.
$3900 in Duck - www.beachrealtync.com/rental/house.html…
$3500 in Corolla - www.beachrealtync.com/rental/house.html…
$4200 in Corolla - www.beachrealtync.com/rental/house.html…
Enjoy.
Oops, my bad, none of those have a private pool. We hardly ever use a pool when we have one, so I always forget to spec that. Ignore my previous post if a pool is required.
I was wondering how there could be so many in Corolla where trying to stay under $5k is even harder than farther south. Finding oceanfront without a pool is easier. Dad might have to forgo the pool and use mother natures puddle.
dad, I looked up a few with Brindley and Villagerealtyobx.com. I was in a hurry and clicked the back button while this screen was still up...thinking I was paging back on a rental site...and lost what I had written. But basically, if you forego the pool, you might still get something oceanfront.
If you forego oceanfront and go for semi-oceanfront or oceanview you will get something.
I think it was Village REalty that had something with a pool semi-oceanfront and wonderful ocean view. It was the first one that came up at that time.
If you%26#39;re going for the water view...you could get a pool and soundfront.
Hey thanks for all the advice! This is a knowledgable and helpful group. I know that the budget is a bit of an issue but hey, you gotta try. We like the pool because I have daughters who prefer to lounge in the pool in the afternoon, and do the ocean in the morning. When I get home from work I will check into these. I know it is often easier to get a pool in my price range when you go second tier. And I know we are starting late. My oldest is in Richmond for the summer and we just opened 1 week between summer school, club sports, work and start of the new college year (whew!).
We like to have no itinerary on vacation, though I am a history buff and like to hike/bike ride. We do like resturants for dinner and a good place to buy seafood for when we eat in. We do not require mini golf, fast food, go carts, amusement parks of any kind, t-shirt shops (or for that matter expensive shops, I am cheap after all) or malls. :^)
Thanks to all for your kind assistance!

If you are striking out finding what you are looking for in the Outer Banks, there are other North Carolina Oceanside options to consider further south.
Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Topsail Island (my fav for almost 40 years), Wrigtsville Beach and others around and South of Wilmington.
If you are coming from Richmond, don%26#39;t assume that these spots will add a considerable amount of time to your drive. Wilmington beaches are easily accessible via 95 and I-40. A lot of the places along the Outer Banks take a considerable amount of time to get to due to ';one way in-one way out'; bridges and roads.
Just food for thought...
Thanks, I am open to all areas of NC, so long as it has a beach that is swimmable. I just have never been to that part of the country. Thanks!
