Rainy Day Activities in Asheville

Well the weather on our Memorial Day weekend may just rain on our parade...literally. Originally, we had planned on extensive hiking and outdoor activity for a long weekend trip to Asheville, so I was wondering should the weather be less than desirable what would be your top recommendations for a small group of 20 somethnings visiting from out of state...none of us are really big shoppers.

Biltmore House... lots of indoor buildings on the property.

downtown and then after 4pm stop at Sante wine bar for apps before dinner.

Asheville Pizza for a movie, pizza and local beer

Beer Tour

Wine Tastings - several local wine shops do Saturday wine tastings

Hot tubs in Fairview or Hot Springs - I think both are covered

It won%26#39;t rain all weekend long. I suggest you bring your rain gear and spend some time outside anyway. Views from the Blue Ridge Parkway and many trails on cloudy days with a fog moving in and out can be surprisingly beautiful. Add the Arboretum to your list of places to visit and walk in the rain or drizzle. Keep in mind that rainy or cloudy days are much better for taking pictures of waterfalls. You can still do lots of hiking just have an extra dry clothes in your car so you can remove all wet stuff once you finished hiking. We also like to bring a thermos with a hot chocolate on those wet days. Nothing taste better than a hot chocolate once you return to a trailhead. I would avoid slippery and steep trails but there are so many easier trails everywhere and once you hiked in the woods it can be actually very pleasant and probably your group won%26#39;t see many other hikers. If you see a couple older than you that maybe my husband and I. Say hello!

Wow- thanks everyone. Well I%26#39;m definitely going to bring these suggestions to the table and we are definitely hitting downtown and the Biltmore. Guess we will check out forecast when in town and save hikes for most promising day.
