Bird Island

I have heard of Bird Island off of Sunset Beach and am interested in it but having troublefinding more information. Can someone tell me how to get to it, where to park, etc? IMy impression is that it is a natural area to walk and hike on and observe the wildlife. Amy restrictions as to where we can walk? Thanks.

Bird Island

Bird Island is on the west end of Sunset Beach.

You can park near the end of the street, best to get there in early morning if you are not staying on the island.

It used to be only accessible during low tide, but with all the past hurricanes you can%26#39;t tell now where Sunset stops and Bird Island begins. There is a mailbox there, %26#39;kindred spirit%26#39; where a notebook is tucked inside and visitors have left their thoughts written down. As far as rescristions, there are turtle nests which are usually taped off to watch out for and to protect the dunes most people stay to the trails or beach areas. It is a nice quiet area and used to be a great place to go after high tide to collect sand dollars %26amp; other sea shells.

Bird Island

It is right on the state line. You may see some topless sunbathers. Just a caution.
