Best Area for swimming dogs

We have two golden retrievers who love the beach and water. Thinking of going to OBX. It seems like the southern end is less crowded than the northern end/cities.

Any place where the dogs can run and swim (and yes, we always pick up after them). Any small village you recommend?

Technically they are not allowed to run free and if your caught by a ranger you might get a ticket I have seen it done .

but yes the southern end is better if you have 4 wheel drive this is even better as you might find some areas that are not populated I reccamend Ocracoke as there are miles of beach that no one goes to even the rangers.

But as I said your not suppose to let them run free a 10 ft leash is required at all times.

Kitty Hawk, KDH, and Nags Head allow dogs and mine enjoy running and swimming there. You have to keep them under control and KDH only allows them before 9am or after 4pm so I would choose Kitty or Nags Head. The beaches are not that crowded at all and you just walk to an area where no one is sitting or fishing and let em have fun. After 4pm or before 9am the beaches are pretty quiet and finding a large area to let them run is not hard at all.
