Good hotel near airport

I%26#39;m driving in Friday night for an early flight to St. Maarten. Any suggestions for a good hotel very near the airport at the reasonable price?

A lot of the hotels in the immediate vicinity of the airport aren%26#39;t in the best part of the city. A nice hotel is Embassy Suites Hotel Charlotte鈥?at Billy Graham Parkway and I-77. If you%26#39;re traveling north on I-77, a very nice area a half hour from the airport is the I-77 David Lyle Blvd. exit. Another two areas in the city are with good hotel options are Pineville and Southpark.

Patty, since you%26#39;ll only be at the hotel for a few hours, I don%26#39;t think safety is a big concern. If you were planning to stay a while and wanted things within walking distance, then yes, safety would be an issue. But I think most any of the ';name'; hotels in the airport area would be fine for a brief one night stay. Especially with an early flight, you want to stay as close to the airport as possible since Charlotte morning traffic can be a nightmare.

And another thing...it seems much has been made of safety in Charlotte. I think it%26#39;s no different from any other city--there are some areas to avoid, but for the most part it%26#39;s a very safe city if you just take the normal precautions.

We used points for a Choice hotel and will never do that again. I second the Embassy.

We have stayed at the Renaissance. They even have a shuttle so you can leave your car at the hotel while you are gone. It is a suite hotel with bedroom and living room and was very nice.

The only safe option is the Holiday Inn at Woodlawn and I-77. They have a shuttle to the airport. 10 minutes away.

Homewood Suites. Right near the airport, clean, comfortable.

I have these choices narrowed down:

La Quinta South $80

Country Inn %26amp; Suites $89

Hyatt Place also $89

Then Homewood Suites and Renaissance Suites for $99 each.

All offer %26#39;park/sleep/fly%26#39; option which is what I need. Would like to have restaurants/bar w/in walking distance.

any preferences?
