Outer Banks or Wilmington for Thanksgiving

I have been researching suggestions posted for my first time in NC. We are looking for a place to visit for 4 days over Thanksgiving. I am trying to decide between Outer Banks near Nags Head %26amp; Kitty Hawk or Wilmington. Does Outer Banks have much to do in November? Does either place have any special historical things going on for Thanksgiving? Which location would have more for us to do- I have two teenage girls and we like shopping, beach, tourist attractions, etc. Thank you so much.

Outer Banks or Wilmington for Thanksgiving

My husband and I have gone to Outer Banks for Thanksgiving for years and highly recommend it.

Our favorite places to eat are Awful Arthur%26#39;s and Kelly%26#39;s. Some seasonal restaurants and shops are closed, but I never have any trouble getting dinner and a good shopping ';fix';. There are two very nice Food Lions for groceries. Everyone should go to Wright Memorial and at least one light house. Bodie Island is the closest to most, but lovely drive to Hatteras shows what beach looked like before ';civilization'; took over. Most years, Kitty Hawk Kites has special activities end of Thanksgiving week, and you can watch/do hang gliding there every day. Most seasons, the weather supports great walking on the beach but not swimming. A lot of folks do surfing and windsurfing.

Kitty Hawk Sports can tell you more about that. Another neat place is the Whalehead Club-a restored century old hunt club. Hope this helps!
