First time in area help with a place to stay

My husband recently retired so this is the first time we%26#39;re able to go for an extended trip. We decided to do the Blue Ridge area then Charleston, a vistit to our son in Clover SC and then Myrtle Beach. On our way home (Rochester, NY), we looked at the map and the Outer Banks look interesting. Since we will be gone for over 3 weeks and need to get home, can anyone recommend a place for 2/3 day stay near an area near water, restaurants, etc. We%26#39;re looking for moderate price. Thanks

I am not sure about moderate prices but I can help you with the rest. You did not mention a time frame and in about 30 days this place is going to start loading up as schools let out and families show up. The Outer Banks is about 1 mile wide and 80+ miles long. If you want to stay in a place with lots to see and do I would suggest Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. You might want to rent a motel/hotel as opposed to a house since it will just be for 2-3 days. Hilton has a nie place in Kitty and there is a nice Best Western in KDH and The Nags Head Inn in Nags Head or Colony IV in KDH and many other oceanfront hotel/motels. Do a google search for motels in zip code 27949, 27948, 27959 and you will find dozens on the beach or across the street. Those areas have lots of restaurants, shopping, sights, etc. You can wonder up to Corolla and down to Hatteras if you feel the need to ride and hour each way.

Enjoy

Hi Nanceetom! Please let us know a little bit more about what you would like to do and your price range. Would you prefer a B%26amp;B to a hotel?

There%26#39;s a nice Hilton Garden Inn up from Kitty Hawk. Sorry I do not know what the area is called but it is nice.

MollyB, We love fairly simple things like a lot of walking and looking at the ocean and landscape and, if possible, quaint areas (towns) or historic. Local charm restaurants are usually what we try sponsor also.

Either a B%26amp;B or motel would be fine. This is our last leg of our trip and we%26#39;re not looking to spend a lot of $$. We thought around a $100-140 range if that were possible in the area.

Thanks

It%26#39;s called Kitty Hawk.

Hi again, Nanceetom! I would take a look at the Inn at Corolla Light. Here is a link...

They do have rooms in your price range. You will be on the sound with nice walking trails to use. You can cross over to the ocean easily. Guests at the Inn have access to all the amenities at the Corolla Light community. You are close to the some historic landmarks including the lighthouse. Do you like to bike? The Inn also has those for your use. Wonderful bike paths around Corolla. You could also drive down to Duck and visit there easily.

You might also look at the Manteo area. You would have to drive to the ocean, but it might be what something you might like to consider.

Lastly, take a look at Ocracoke. So nice.

Let us know what other questions you have once you have had a chance to consider some of our suggestions.
