Mid 20's couple looking for where to stay

Hello everyone,

My wife and I would like to visit the Outerbanks in July and are looking for a place on the water and is near activities, shopping and restuarants. I%26#39;ve seen some reviews on places, but its seem like everywhere is nice. We are driving from Norfolk, VA airport and will be there for 4 to 5 days so any ideas would be greatly appreciated?!

Thanks

Biggest question: Being in your mid-20%26#39;s, will you be looking to experience OBX nightlife (a.k.a. barhopping at night)?

If so, I%26#39;d highly recommend somewhere in Kill Devil Hills. This is because it has the highest concentration of shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Whatever you do don%26#39;t drink and drive in OBX (not that you should anywhere) the police are extra-vigilant during the summer months. The expression goes, ';Come here on vacation, leave here on probation.'; Staying in KDH will drastically reduce your cab fares and shopping %26amp; dining are abundant.

You probably want to look more at hotels/motels. Renting a cottage or house will be problematic for you b/c the overwhelming majority of them are weeklong rentals (Sat-to-Sat, Sun-to-Sun).

As far as the 4 or 5 day rental, you better just plan on renting a house for the week and leaving a day early or arriving a day late. Partials in July will be hard to find as will motels rooms. KDH or Nags Head will offer you the closest rentals to nite life, but Kitty Hawk might save you some rental money.

Nags Head, Kitty Hawk or Kill Devil Hills.
