Deep Creek Campground

I tried searching for reviews but didn%26#39;t find much. My friend has invited me to go for Memorial Day Weekend but I am still debating. It%26#39;s a long drive for me and just wondering if anyone has been to this campground lately. My friend goes every year with her family. She said they have lots of fun tubing. I would just like to get more information and opinions.

Deep Creek Campground

It%26#39;s been at least 6-8 years since we have been there. It is just inside the Smokies Park, and about 3 miles from Bryson City. It is a very busy campground....sites along the creek are very difficult to get, since it is first come first served. No reservations can be made. You rent tubes from vendors just outside the campground....nice truck tubes with built-in seats. Alot of day visitors come to tube as well, often on church and activity buses. The tubing is fun, but it is not the place to be if you want to get away from it all in a quiet woods setting.

The close proximity to Bryson City is nice for supplies and dinner, if you wish.

There is a nice waterfall up the trail, and the hiking is relaatively flat and easy. The campground is only at about 2000 ft elevation, so it will be warm. But the creek water is cold!

Deep Creek Campground

This is a fun campground. It%26#39;s clean but you%26#39;ll have to get there pretty early to get a site. Memorial Day weekend will be very crowded. However, the tubing is quite fun and you can go into Bryson City easily for meals and attractions. Just depends on how aggressive you want to be in getting a camp site.
