change hotels our third night -from Bohemian to Renaissance?

Hello. My best friend and I are staying in Asheville for a long weekend at the end of May and are booked the first two nights at the Grand Bohemian. As it turns out we will be staying a third night in Asheville as well, and wondered if we should switch hotels for that night to the Renaissance, as it is right in downtown and would afford us the opportunity to walk around to diff. shops and nightly restaurants. It is a tad cheaper, but not much difference. Would this be worth our wild? Also, is there taxi service in downtown Asheville, should we be having wine with dinner and not wanting to drive home?

Bohemian is brand new and located in Biltmore Village. I expect it is MUCH nicer than the Renaissance. Renaissance is not bad, but it is a much older property. However you can%26#39;t beat its location for walking downtown, and it does not appear to be run down by any means.

Taxis are readily available and it would be a cheap ride from downtown to the Bohemian. If rates are the same, I%26#39;d say go with the Bohemian an extra night and catch a cab. Don%26#39;t miss downtown after dark.

If I was staying in the same city and was happy with my hotel I would find it too much of a hassle to pack up and move. I think you will like the Bohemian unless you aren%26#39;t into taxidermy in which case I%26#39;d go w/ the Renaissance. There is taxi service to downtown. You can have some great meals in Biltmore Village - I had drinks and apps at Bohemian%26#39;s Red Stag last week and quite liked it. Fig, Corner Kitchen and Rezaz%26#39;s and Enoteca next to Rezaz%26#39;s are all very good.

I would stay at the Bohemian. Taxis are plentiful and are inexpensive for that short ride. The Bohemian is brand new and and there standard rooms are upscale. Plus you wouldn%26#39;t want to have to spend part of your visit moving rooms. Most hotels have an AM check out and PM check in so you will be left carrying all of your stuff. Renaissance is not a bad hotel, but the Bohemian offers a bit more luxury.

Thanks so much for everyone%26#39;s input! I guess we had envisioned downtown to be so much further away. Looks like it%26#39;s just right around the corner. Looking forward to our stay! Does anyone know if there is a place to have after dinner cocktails within the Biltmore Village? (something that might be open til midnight).

I%26#39;d be suprised if anything is open that late in the actual village. TGI Friday%26#39;s is on the edge of the Village. They are open late. Downtown is still your best bet for late night drinks %26amp; entertainment.

after dinner drinks...you%26#39;ll like Red Stag Grill right in your hotel...otherwise just across the street at Enoteca should be open fairly late.

thanks everyone! looks like we%26#39;ll just stay put and cab it into downtown for dinner and nightlife one night
