Gorges State Park or Dupont Forest???

Are there any other hiking parks with waterfalls or are these the main 2?

Which one is better?

We are just looking for a beautiful setting with waterfalls and about a 3 mile hike.. not more than an hour away from Asheville.

Thanks!

Gorges State Park or Dupont Forest???

Wow, there are so many beautiful hiking areas around Asheville! DuPont and Gorges are great as is the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway between Franklin and Highlands/Cashiers NC. Asheville is surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest some of which is considered temparate rain forest and abundant with beautiful hiking and waterfalls.

I think for a day trip from Asheville you could choose between DuPont and Pisgah/Looking Glass falls. With DuPont you would be hiking to the falls, see this video and directions:

You also have the option of Looking Glass Falls in the Pisgah National Forest. It%26#39;s just off Hwy 276 and you can see a portion of the falls from the road. This could be a nice loop drive taking the Blue Ridge Parkway out of Asheville, maybe have lunch at Pisgah Inn, then head down Highway 276 to Looking Glass Falls, Take a hike in the Pisgah and loop back up Highway 281 and 191 back up to Asheville.

Personally I%26#39;d take the Parkway!
